  • Knowledge Oman Holds ICT Talks at COMEX 2012 

    Knowledge Oman, the leading community and knowledge sharing platform in the country, is the exclusive Knowledge Partner at COMEX 2012, supporting Oman’s largest ICT exhibition. Knowledge Oman is further collaborating with the Information Technology Authority (ITA) to deliver a series of ICT lectures at the ITA stall in COMEX, delivered for free by Knowledge Oman members. This active participation aligns with the mission of connecting communities with knowledge and the vision of building a knowledge-based society in the country.
     
    Amal Al Masshari, Community Projects Manager at Knowledge Oman, says, “We are very pleased to support COMEX 2012 for the fourth year consecutively and to hold a series of sessions for the community. This exhibition serves as the perfect opportunity to exchange experiences and learn the latest developments locally and internationally in the technology world.”
     
    The participation of Knowledge Oman at COMEX 2012 opens its platform to local and international companies, governmental bodies, NGO's and academicians all under one roof through a series of daily talks on a variety of ICT topics during the exhibition over a five day period. Knowledge Oman professionals Ali AL Lawati, Jalal Al-Hadrami, Christuda Dai and Tomy Bosco will speak on various topics including Risk Management in IT, Social Media, IT Developments in Oman and smartphone technologies. A large number of visitors are expected to join, learn and network.

  • Success of Knowledge Oman Presented in an Academic Study 

    The first of its kind case study has been written and presented about Knowledge Oman (http://www.knowledgeoman.com), examining how this leading knowledge-based initiative developed a unique community entrepreneurship model driven entirely by volunteer work. The Knowledge Oman success case study has been presented at the Oman Symposium on Management 2012 at the Ibra College of Technology. Authored by Dr.Manishankar Chakraborty, Faculty Member of the Business Studies at Ibra College of Technology along with Ms. Rym Aoudia, COO of Knowledge Oman, the paper further highlighted key factors that distinguish Knowledge Oman as a contemporary virtual organization in setting an exemplary standard for the country and internationally.
     
    “The impact that drives Knowledge Oman forwards ranges from its people-inspired volunteer culture to its work approach and innovation. This has caught the attention of the academic world to study our case and share the learning of our success with other academicians and professionals. This is an honor for all of us at the team and has brought me great pleasure to support in authoring this case study about Knowledge Oman. ” said Rym Aoudia, COO of Knowledge Oman. 
     
    The study examined the unique community entrepreneurship model developed and implemented successfully through bridging the divide between the knowledge haves and knowledge have-nots entirely with a volunteer team to realize the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of making Oman a knowledge society. This reviewed the unique business model of Knowledge Oman, its organizational structure, and the leadership and management skills of the team.

" said Dr. Manishankar Chakraborty, Faculty Member- Business Studies, Ibra College of Technology.  
     
    A number of students and faculty members along with professional practitioners, academicians, academic administrators, and students attended the session that highlighted the significance of the unique model developed by Knowledge Oman.

    KnowledgeOman.com, the leading community and knowledge sharing initiative in the Sultanate, has been honoured with the “Outstanding Contribution to the Cause of Education Award” at World HRD Congress 2012, held in Mumbai, India. The prestigious award presented to KnowledgeOman.com consisted of a trophy and a citation commending on the excellence contribution rendered to the community and academia towards education development in Oman.

    Tariq Hilal Al-Barwani, founder and president of KnowledgeOman.com, represented the team and received the accolade at the event that attracted top educational institutions from over 60 countries around the world.

    The award program recognizes the contributions of organizations whose unique efforts have contributed by impacting the education of students in the country. Awards distributed during the event for different categories are the most prestigious award an individual so as organizations can receive at the World HRD Congress. The awards of the noblest stature were designed to be presented to individuals and institutions that have excelled in diverse ways, especially in the areas of academic leadership, innovation, industry, among others.

    The World HRD Congress is nonprofit body that is run and managed virtually by professionals who have a full time job and passion to make a difference to the community. The award winners are selected by a Global Research Cell. This Cell constitutes professionals from different parts of the world whom actively monitor the progress and achievement organizations undertake towards education development.

    KnowledgeOman.com, established in April 2008, has been actively since inception creating programs and engaging with academic institution to promote knowledge across the Sultanate. Knowledge Oman has visited and presented seminars and sessions at Indian School, Muscat College, the German University of Technology, Khimji Training Institute, Muscat Private School, Deslie Training Institute, Shatti Qurum School, Muscat Private School, Nizwa Higher College of Technology, Nizwa Applied Sciences College, Sultan Qaboos University, the Middle East College of Information Technology, Muscat Higher College of Technology, the Modern College of Business and Science, Musaana Higher College of Technology, the University of Dhofar, Omani Society for Educational Technology, and the Open Arab University.

    Knowledge Oman is committed to spreading knowledge and free education across the country through various projects and volunteer-driven initiatives. In 2009, KnowledgeOman was awarded international standard web technology for the website, and in 2010 KnowledgeOman was awarded Brand Leadership award for its community initiatives.
