KnowledgeOman.com is a platform that specifically connects people in the community to create, share and promote knowledge through online-based and community driven initiatives. The platform was launched in April 2008 as a mission to solidify the vision of the country's ruler, His Majesty the Sultan Qaboos of Oman. The vision is to transform Oman into a knowledge based society. This generates wealth of knowledge and builds the nation which is the corner-stone of success today.
KnowledgeOman.com has associated with a number of public and private institutions while actively involved in the community by creating programs and launching initiatives that contribute to the mission of promoting knowledge. This includes collaborating with the largest software company in world Microsoft, largest electronic store in the country e-Max, the government association ITA, the Omani Women Association, Dar Al Ataa, Tawasul think tank, and the Middle East College of Information Technology, to name a few.

KnowledgeOman.com has also received a number of prestigious awards since it was launched. In 2009, KnowledgeOman.com received the "International standard web technology award" during the Oman Web Awards competition 2009. In 2010 KnowledgeOman.com received the "Brand Leadership Award" at the world Brand Congress 2010.
KnowledgeOman.com has a bilingual platform for further outreach in the country. This is in addition to holding free community seminars in both English and Arabic inviting speakers from the academia and business to share real world examples and exchange knowledge.

It is entirely run voluntarily by a team of local and expatriate community living in Oman coming from different backgrounds, nationalities and professions of both private and public institutions.
